Search for the Crown update (v1.02.2)


It's been a month since my last update!? Well clearly my previous road map was overly optimistic about timing. Regardless, I've managed to find some time here and there to gradually add the next set of features.

In the previous update I changed the inventory and added items that can be used. With this latest update I've added weapons and ranged attacks (with guns). I've also overhauled combat. So far, characters do more damage, have less health, but miss more frequently. The hunter still hits everything without fail, but is just as fragile as the other characters. 

I'm not happy yet with how high the miss chance happens to be, but more importantly I need to update the UI so it properly displays these values. The next steps then include:

  • Improving the information you get from looking at targets (or choosing them to fire upon)
  • Improving the ability to target (so it doesn't take as long to fire at the same target again)
  • Use a similar targeting interface for throwing items

These next steps should be done in a week or two. Thrown items do not yet exist, but I want them since they add another tactical element and can be connected to traps. Once those small UI changes are done, I'll move back to improving the dungeon generator. There are several new traps and enemies that can be added to the game now, as well as the possibility of taking items in and out of camp (particularly important for ammo, food, and water). After changing the dungeon generator then I can adjust the food and water timers to account for the possibility of bringing extras along. The dungeon changes likely won't appear until late July at the rate I'm going, but slow progress is better than none.
